About UsThe Association of Organic Families of Costa Rica gathers more than 2000 families from up to 17 different Associations from all around Costa Rica. APPTA Associations (Association of small family farmers of Talamanca) is set in the Atlantic Coast of Costa Rica and gathers around 1200 families working in different Organic crops (about 20 different ones). 80% of its members are Indigenous and 35% women, the other 20% from white and african descendant groups. There are four different association working together with APPTA in this region. Appta work is one of the greatest efforts our Country has accomplish in organizing small Organic farmers and has brought value to these groups products as recognition to this very largely forgotten communities one of the poorest in Costa Rica All our cocoa products are totally made and finish by this incredible hard working group. The Association Alianza (Association of Organic Farmers of Costa Rica )works closely with the small family coffee farmers in the Country and gathers around 700 hundred families from all over the Country. The are 12 small groups today working in this Alliance on the coffee sector. The Alliance of Organic Farmers have proofed its capacity to bring about a better developing system for all their proyects and for creating value added products, all of them capable of sharing a spot in quality and beauty but more importantly for its capacity to bring about a new answer for our quest to Economic,Social, and Environmental Justice.
